How long does vehicle tracker installation take?

Moto Halo Lite uses a straightforward two-wire connection and normally takes around 15–30 minutes to install by following the supplied instructions. Moto Halo S7 Pro requires professional installation arranged through Moto Halo, which normally takes around one hour.

Moto Halo Lite is designed for owner installation using a straightforward battery connection. S7 Pro is installed professionally and covertly, making it suitable when greater resistance to tampering or Thatcham approval is required.

Yes. An airtime subscription is required to activate either Moto Halo tracker and access its location and alert features through the app. Lite and S7 Pro have different subscription prices, so check the relevant product page before purchasing.

The Lite product is a self installation product which you can buy and literally follow the instructions to fit yourself on your vehicle. Our S7 Pro is fully Thatcham approved and requires and installation from one of our Thatcham approved engineers. You can book an appointment when you purchase the device. Both devices come with an immobiliser option.

Is one better for insurance? The professionally installed version is typically Thatcham Approved (e.g., S7 Pro), which is often a requirement for insurance policies on high-value or high-risk vehicles (motorbikes, cars, etc.). The self-fit version provides excellent tracking but may not meet strict insurance requirements for a “Thatcham Approved” system. Always check with your insurer.

Moto Halo Lite prioritises straightforward owner installation. S7 Pro is installed covertly by a professional, providing additional resistance to discovery and tampering. Choose S7 Pro where professional installation or Thatcham approval is required.

No. The self-fit device usually connects directly to the positive and negative battery terminals and can be installed with basic household tools (like a screwdriver to access the battery).
Once the device is physically installed (self-fit or professional), you simply scan the QR code that comes with the device and complete the activation process via the Moto Halo mobile app (available on Android/iOS).
